Adventure Nursery
It seemed all too fitting to give this adventure baby an adventure themed nursery. Three babies was never our plan but somehow (he caved first!) plans changed and this time feels like the sweetest adventure we’ve been on. There truly was no strategic design plan behind this gender neutral nursery concept other then light, bright, and stuffed full of special treasures Mom + Dad adore.
I’ve been slightly obsessed with herringbone patterns this season and find myself incorporating them as many places as possible. Dining room table, new deck, and now the accent wall to the nursery. Of course I would have preferred for the identical wallpaper by my favorite ocean-inspired design company but I found this wall stencil that’s a dead copy and had to go for it. Especially at the price friendly rate of $39.95, it was too good to be true. If you’ve never stenciled before all you need is a small roller, a little bit of paint, paper towels, patience, and good tunes. (Your in for a full day! ;)) One day later and ta-da, we have a copy-cat version of a $700 wallpaper wall I was about to surprise my husband with.
My husband had a collection of match-box Zamboni’s that have been in a box for the fifteen years we have been together. Honestly, this box of hockey collectables has traveled with us to the 13 different addresses we have lived and I’ve only dug them from the dust to admire them and think to myself ‘he will have to someday have a man space to display all his cool things’. Now that our daughters play hockey here in Minnesota, I felt now was a better time then any to finally put these pups on a shelf. (There are so many more, this is just a few of his favs.) This threw our family for a loop as they insisted we must be having a boy. (ha) I think they are adorable, gender neutral (chicks play hockey too!) and they were actually a gift from his late father, so there you have it. Canada, hockey, whales, ocean blues, and Jeep’s inspire this adventure themed nursery.
Speaking of Jeep’s and matchbox collectables, that rolled canvas top cruiser print belongs to Leslee Mitchell. I’ve had a slight girl crush on Leslee Mitchell after I stumbled across her a few years ago in 2017 when I was desperate to find anyone that lived a working life between interior design and bridal. I was all of a sudden feeling like I had to fit inside one box or the other and I wanted to find another soul that lived between both worlds as I have the last twelve years. I came close with Leslee, she’s an Artist and a Photographer. She photographs Interiors + Weddings. I was close. She was cool. Her art, was beautiful! I’ve always had a love for the classics; vehicles, music, movies, you name it and you’ll probably find it on her website. Please check her out.
One year ago we sold all of our baby stuff at a garage sale besides the crib and a few stuffies as you can see here. So needless to say this adventure baby has cost us a small fortune to replenish our supplies. It’s somewhat hard to put a brand new baby in used things so I’m really not complaining. I snatched this rocker off amazon for a steal and found the changing pad cover that is oh-so-velvety from a sweet momma out of her Etsy shop in Canada. Every other item was an up-cycle or found at the mothership, aka Home Goods.
